Brands Hatch done β π
A really positive weekend for me and another big step forward.
Unlike nearly all of the 30-car grid, Iβd never tested at Brands Hatch before, so Friday was my first time driving the circuit for real. Iβd done thousands of laps on the sim in preparation though, and we made progress with the car in every testing session.

I qualified P10, followed by finishes of P9, P7 and P9 across the three races.
Race 2 was definitely the highlight. It was one of the closest races Iβve ever been involved in β with two laps to go, the top nine cars were covered by just 2.5 seconds.
At the start of the race I lost the ABS, which made things pretty interesting! Without ABS, braking becomes extremely difficult, with very light brake pressure enough to lock the wheels. I had to completely change how I was braking while still fighting in the pack.
To come away with P7 and finish just two tenths away from the fastest lap despite the problem was something I was really pleased with.
The ABS issue had also cooked the tyres, so Race 3 became much more about racecraft than outright pace. I had to concentrate on positioning the car and defending, and managed to bring it home P9.

It was seriously hot inside the car all weekend. Even the roll cage was too hot to touch when we climbed out after sessions! π₯΅
Overall, Iβm really happy with the weekend. More progress, more experience and plenty learnt.
