Max Top Ten at Silverstone
Another BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship race weekend ticked off for Max and another part the learning curve climbed. Of course it was all with the help from his fantastic team 20Ten Racing
Testing on the Silverstone National circuit was good on Friday, with improvements in every session as he gets closer and closer to the pace of the experienced guys at the front. Max gave himself the target of getting his first top ten finish this weekend and thought it may just be possible.

Quali didn’t go to plan, with a misfire costing him two laps in the session, meaning that he was disappointed to only qualify 24th out of the 29 cars. With only 1.2 seconds covering the top 25 cars, the championship is so tight, just like single make formulas should be.
Race 1 on Saturday and Max had a great start, making 7 places on the first lap, although 3 of which was due to an incident, the rest was purely down to his race craft, knowing where to be brave and where to position the car in traffic. After some good battles he finished in 16th.

Sunday morning and Max was ready for race 2, starting where he left off in 16th place. Another great start and he was 11th going on to the second lap. The guys he had passed woke up and started to put some pressure on, leading to a race long battle with places changing every lap. When the checkered flag dropped Max was in 12th, more progress made.
Sunday afternoon and the last race of the weekend for the Fiesta Juniors. The team and drivers are constantly going through data and video to ensure that they are improving through the weekend, all for this moment. The lights went out and Max made yet another good start from 12th. By the time he was coming in to the Luffield complex, he was up in to 9th and with the lead pack for the first time.

The race was great to watch, with battles going on all around the circuit. Max was battling with previous race winner Dara, whose team had done a great job of putting his car back together after a big shunt the day before. The fight lasted the whole race, with Max finally managing to make a move in to Brooklands with 2 laps to go and holding Dara off to finish 8th…….and his first top ten finish since moving to cars!!!
The smile in parc ferme said it all and it wasn’t just Max smiling. The team were really pleased for him and it was great for Max to pay them back for all their hard work with a great result.

Max couldn’t do this without the help of his partners. If you would like to join them on the journey please get in touch, it’s going to be a blast.
