A day to forget

So today didn’t quite go to plan. After showing great pace in warmup and quali, Max had a slow start to the first race, loosing 3 places. As the race settled down, Max was showing good speed and picking them off as he made his way back through the pack.

Unfortunately after overtaking one of the karts, they tried to cut back on the exit and then squeezed Max at the kink, leaving him no room. He clipped the kerb and the tyres surrounding the start line marshals post, flipping the kart and skidding along the track upside down with Max still in it.

While our hearts stopped at the time and after a trip in the ambulance for a check over Max was fine, with just a graze and lots of bruising to show for it. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for his kit. The kart, helmet and kart suit are all scrap, but Max lives to fight another day and that’s all that matters.

We aren’t sure if he will make the last round, as the cost of replacing everything at the end of the season may be a bit much, but Max wants to say a massive thank you to the medics and @danielricciardoseries staff who helped him and to all his friends and their parents who were lovely.

We all know the risks of racing and these things happen and we know on this occasion it was just a racing incident & not intentional. Onwards and upwards!! #littleracer #karting #crash #oops #braveboy
